Shot & Bead Blasting in Hereford

Proper surface preparation is the foundation of a finish that lasts, and it all starts with blasting.

What blasting does

Blasting propels an abrasive media at the metal at high velocity to strip away old paint, rust, scale and contamination, and to key the surface so a new coating can grip. Skip it or rush it, and even the best coating will fail early; do it properly, and the finish bonds for the long term.

Shot blasting vs bead blasting

Shot blasting uses a harder, more aggressive media to remove heavy rust, mill scale and stubborn old coatings from steel and iron, ideal for fabrications, gates and structural work.

Bead blasting uses fine glass beads for a gentler clean that brightens and lightly satins softer metals such as aluminium and alloy without removing material, perfect for wheels, castings and delicate parts.

What we blast

  • Steel fabrications, gates and railings
  • Alloy wheels, castings and engine parts
  • Vehicle, bike and restoration components
  • Agricultural, plant and machinery parts

Blasting is usually the first stage before powder coating or wet spray, but we’re happy to blast on its own too.
